Ashcroft is located 10km south of Cache Creek on Highway 97C nestled in a valley on the banks of the Thompson River. Ashcroft is a founding partner of "Gold Country", an association of the communities of Cache Creek, Ashcroft, Lytton, Spences Bridge, Logan Lake, Lillooet and Hat Creek Ranch. These communities welcome you to experience the history of "The Gold Rush Trail".As the gateway to the Cariboo and North, Ashcroft serves as a centre providing amenities to both its own residents and the travelling public. Ashcroft's economy is primarily based in the mining, forestry, ranching, transportation and tourism industries. Ashcroft is a community prepared to encourage new business enterprise while maintaining its attractive quality of life. Ashcroft offers an ideal setting to operate a storefront or home based business.
Ashcroft's unique desert setting and rolling hills creates a very sunny and arid climate. The summers can bring high temperatures and the winters are very mild with very little precipitation falling in the valley throughout the year.
Ashcroft offers the outdoor enthusiast many recreational activities, from fishing and camping the nearby lakes to hiking and mountain biking the many trails surrounding town, or step back in time and horseback ride through the "Old West". Recreational and competitive sports including soccer, baseball, tennis, karate, golfing, hockey, figure skating, curling, cross country skiing and snowmobiling play a key role in the leisure of Ashcroft's youth and adults. In 2002 the Village of Ashcroft completed a skateboard park situated in their downtown core.
Ashcroft's mild climate, relaxing lifestyle and low cost of living is well suited for seniors and young working families. The community offers a safe and peaceful environment that includes all the amenities of a sustainable community.
Ashcroft offers some community events such as the Ashcroft Art Show, Annual Stampede Weekend, Music in the Park and the Ashcroft & District Fall Fair.
The friendly town of Ashcroft is rich in history and the Ashcroft Museum holds endless treasures of how life used to be in this once booming town, which was formed in the 1860's. Today, many of the buildings, commercial and residential, were built in the early years of Ashcroft, so for the historian, Ashcroft offers endless jaunts into yesteryear.
